I’ve been so lucky lately to have beautiful brides and handsome grooms… and a very fun, photogenic wedding party too!

Marnie and Jorge are a SUPER couple from not-too-far from where I grew up (a couple hour drive) so they had that cool “Midwest” attitude; relaxed and laid-back.

For this one, I was also very lucky to have about 1.5 hours PRIOR to the ceremony, so I was able to be more creative with the group shots. For any brides considering hiring me, I strongly recommend to consider extra time prior to the ceremony, especially if you have a nice area for photos. This also helps you get to your reception sooner, and with the typical Las Vegas Wedding Reception being only 4 hours long, this is important.

Another option is to have me bring one of my great assistants, who can be with the Groom while I’m with the Bride, and then the Assistant Photographer can help set up all the formal shots after the ceremony. For this one, it was just me, but I had plenty of time!

Here’s a great shot of Marnie and her wedding party… aren’t the dresses amazing?!??

Typically, with limited time prior to the ceremony, the priority is photos of the bride – but I had time for some really creative poses with the groomsmen!

This one has some extra Photoshop “trickery” that we call “selective focus”. It’s pretty time-consuming but creates a very interesting effect of a very pronounced “pop”, almost a 3-D effect. You’ll want to click this one to see the larger version.

Yeah they were good looking guys, but let’s get back to our beautiful bride! I know I posted a similar shot of Cristina not too long ago, but I do consider this a “signature” shot and this one just had so much great color that I had to post it!

Las Vegas Bridal Photography

This one was one of the last ones I took before the ceremony, Marnie was so relaxed and calm, I think this photo really captured her emotions!

Now for after the ceremony.. there’s a funny story behind this shot – In our consultation, one shot that Jorge considered a “must have” was something similar to a photo he saw in my demo gallery where the veil was flowing behind the bride. Luckily, it was windy that day (well, at least on-and-off, right Marnie?); it only took a dozen-or-so attempts over the course of 3 hours to get this one. If you are wondering, nobody was holding the veil (during the shot), that was 100% wind and it took a while to get this veil just right – I’m personally not 100% satisfied with the pose (my fault, I needed to tell Marnie to keep the bouquet a bit lower) – but that’s probably my picky side showing!

Ok, one last one – a fairly common shot, I just liked it and hope that Marnie and Jorge do, too!

I truly enjoyed working with Marnie and Jorge – their patience seemed to have no limitations… they had some trying times before (and a little bit during and after) the wedding… jury duty a week prior… food poisoning the day she arrived in Vegas… and some issues with lights (and security guards) at the reception location – but they never stopped smiling and were really “into” each other – and very easy to photograph!

I decided to do one more Flash photo montage, this one is for Cristina and Jason‘s wedding and for all their friends and family all over the world. Cristina emailed me and was SO excited to show her wedding photos to all her family who couldn’t make it to Las Vegas for the Wedding so I thought I’d put 60 or so photos to a montage as a “little extra” for her.

I like this one because it shows highlights of the entire wedding day, and it’s set to their first dance song. Plus, it shows some of the great surroundings at the JW Marriott Las Vegas that I wasn’t able to post in my original blog post (scroll down 2 or 3 posts to see that one)!

Photography at JW Marriott Las Vegas is always SO much fun! It is a Las Vegas Photographer’s dream! The grounds are absolutely amazing, with waterfalls, beautiful green areas, bridges over little streams, etc. I work a lot at “The JW” (as we call it in our office), and the DJ’s at D. Jay’s Entertainment are out there often as well.

I noticed that I don’t have a lot of “getting ready” photos on my blog, and many of my brides ask me to cover this portion of their day. Well, we had an awesome room (with amazing light coming in through the patio door), and of course an absolutely beautiful bride, so I thought I’d share some “getting ready” photos!

The natural light from the patio door was perfect for a nice portrait.

Las Vegas Bride

The entire wedding had so much color, being outside and with the beautiful blue accents on the dress, but I really felt I needed to provide Cristina with a couple “timeless” photos, and the best way to do that is with black and white. This photo is “overexposed” on purpose to accent her figure and take the attention away from the trees, etc. that were outside the window. It also helps give the photo my trademark “glow” look…

A nice split-tone really accentuated Cristina’s complexion and helped the overall “feel” of this one:

I didn’t really intend on posting any ceremony shots, but I changed my mind ;)

We got so many nice after-ceremony shots around the grounds of The JW, this is one of my favorites:

For long-time readers of my blog, you’ve seen this shot before, it’s one I attempt when the veil allows for it, and my brides/grooms always love it!

The big round window in the reception room inspired me to do a silhouette photo, if you squint your eyes just right you can see a heart? See it?!?

Ok, well that’s about 4 more photos than I usually post, I got a little carried away! As always, I thank Cristina and Jason for allowing me to be a part of their wedding day. It was an honor and a privilege!

I’ve had a few calls and emails on how to contact me for prices and quotes on my photography services here in Las Vegas. My email is tiffany@tiffanygphoto.com or you can call D. Jay’s Entertainment at (702) 643-3529. My photography services usually book between 3 and 9 months in advance but please call to check availability. I also have 3 assistant photographers on my staff who do great work.

Since not all photography is “Las Vegas Photography”, I frequent a lot of message boards for photographers from all over the world where we share our photos and critique each other’s work. Every once in a while I’ll show a photo that my client ABSOLUTELY LOVES, but the pro photogs will absolutely HATE. Usually that’s for very technical reasons…. exposure, flash use, shadows, etc.

Of course, like all Photographers, I strive to take a perfect “technical” picture every time. But sometimes, that just doesn’t happen. What I DO almost always get is the EMOTION… the “moment”. You won’t find me missing a shot because I’m adjusting my flash or the lighting isn’t just right! Photoshop does some amazing things!

Anyway, I was thinking about my personal theory on Photography, as it relates to my work here, for weddings, family, sports, and some portrait photography. I decided that I would write my 5 “goals”, in order, and publicize those goals to my clients and potential clients.

Here goes:

  1. Capture the “moment” and the “emotion”. This includes helping the client(s) get into a good mindset so I can get good photos (ie. having fun when appropriate!).
  2. Make sure my client will like (or love) the shot. Consult to find out the client’s styles and wants, but push creative/artistic boundaries. Don’t forget about the “must have” poses/photos.
  3. Composition/Exposure/Lighting. Understand that good composition (or cropping) and processing can make a mediocre photo/moment into an “OH WOW” photo. While on-location, take a good “technical” shot, but don’t shortchange the client by giving them an unfinished photo! Post Processing can make the difference!
  4. Run a smooth and organized photoshoot. Especially with group pictures or with the formal photography before/after a wedding ceremony – the family and guests appreciate a photographer who can (nicely) “take charge” and get the pictures done quickly and professionally.
  5. Quality above quantity. HOWEVER, especially with event photography, most clients do want “candid” or “snapshot” type photos of their friends and family. Not every photo needs to be magazine-quality, but make them magazine-quality when it’s appropriate.

Thank you for reading this longer-than-normal blog post. I hope it gives you a bit more insight into my style!
