Wedding Photography in Las Vegas - Weddings, Bridal Photos, Engagements, Families, Kids, Portraits, and Events.-
February 24th, 2009WeddingsWow, that was QUICK! Will and Cherry are already married! Seems like just yesterday we did their engagement/family session photos!
Will and Cherry were married at the Chapel at Nellis AFB just a couple days ago, in a beautiful ceremony that included the color guard and everything! Those photos are coming up, but I haven’t posted any “details” pictures for a while so I thought I’d post a couple.
Look at the amazing details on the back of this dress! And, for the new readers, make sure you click on the picture for a larger version!
Red was the theme for the day (Cherry Red?)
Cherry and her dad walking through the guard…
The ring exchange, I just love her expression here… it says A LOT!
After the ceremony, the traditional stop-and-kiss before being allowed to move past…
Jeremy was doing a little 2nd shooting for me, and got this cute-as-heck photo… just look at the question mark on his face!
Yes, I do formals! They are a bit boring and plain, but necessary! What’s funny is that since we did the engagement session, when we said, “Ok, Will head tilt, angled shoulders…” he’d do it perfectly!
Cherry, you found a winner who listens, too! Then it was off to the golf course where we got close to 200 shots in about half-an-hour! Jeremy and I were both clicking away… he took the groomsmen and I took the bridesmaids. Jeremy says he just told the groomsmen to “pimp it up” and this is what he got:
Then we brought them together:
In case you are wondering, yes we did the standard “V-Pose” formal poses for the wedding party - but who really wants to see those?!?
Now for some creative couples-shots. Here’s a pretty typical photo, with “touch of color” (or “black-and-color”). Even though it’s a fairly stock photograph, I thought it came out really nice!
Here’s a great example of why a 2nd shooter is a very worthwhile addition to a photography package - I got a lot of photos from the “typical” angle for this pose, but Jeremy got this one - a non-typical angle that really works!
So here’s one of our very faves - it really hurt to take out the bright red, but for this one, the black-and-white really adds to the feel. We also added some “film grain” for that classic look:
At the reception, we found out that Will and Cherry used our engagement session photos for their table numbers… how cool is that?
Yeah, I know - another “typical” photo. Please keep in mind that of course we take the “standard” pictures! I’ve had a few brides asking lately, “Ok, so your photos are very creative but what about the required/standard pictures?”… well, here’s one!
And, a huge group photo, told them to “do something crazy” for this one…
Jeremy and I got a bit over 1100 photos at this wedding - but more than that, we had an amazing time. Will and Cherry and their kids and family are AWESOME people and we were honored to be a part of their day!

January 19th, 2009EngagementsWhat a great couple! We’re shooting Tiffany and Travis’ wedding in October and their package included an Engagement Session. They really wanted to go up on Mt. Charleston to “play in the snow” and we were all for it! What turned out was an hour at a local park, then a jaunt up to the mountain for another hour. So, with 70 degree weather at the park, and 30 degree weather and snow on the mountain, it turned out to be one of the most “varied” shoots we’ve done!
A photo style we call “natural habit”, meaning not posed and using a zoom lens to do our best to capture our subjects being natural. Make sure you click on the photos so you can see the larger versions!
Two more:
A neat posed photo, the last one that I’ll post from the park (we got over 100 there), because … well you’ll see why!
We got up to the mountain and found there wasn’t much snow, and what snow there was, was hard-packed. Tiffany doesn’t look TOO cold, does she?
Jeremy and I always argue about the “cold tone” processing. It obviously enhances the blues and makes the photo look “cold”. It’s a really neat effect but obviously with wedding photography we don’t get much of a chance to use it! Well, if there was any time that it was appropriate, it was for these two shots:
Don’t worry, Tiffany and Travis get both versions (normal, and “cold tone”). Here’s a photograph we love, probably one of our favorites from the shoot:
They wanted to get pictures having fun in the snow, so how about sliding down the icy hill?
By then, the sun was going down so we had to rush to the other side of the mountain to catch the sun setting. We were a little bummed, about 5 or 10 minutes past “prime” time but I think they still came out pretty good:
And I know we do this shot a lot but this photo came out so nice… (and yes, Travis.. the “other one” came out very nice too).
Overall we’ll end up with around 300 “keepers”. And we can’t wait for October to be able to work with Tiffany and Travis again!
What the hey… BONUS PIC! Neither Jeremy or I are “landscape” photographers and we had the wrong lens on for this one, but it’s still pretty cool!

I periodically get to visit Laughlin for my wedding photography. Terry and Letasha are a great couple! They had an outside wedding under a gazebo and a reception inside a great room with a beautiful view. Here’s some highlights:
From the bridal suite, we had 30 minutes or so to get some bridal photos.
Now to the outside wedding, I purposely slightly over-exposed this photo to emphasize the beautiful sunny day. I also added a slight glow and darkened the dark areas. I know this is a love-it-or-hate-it type shot. It doesn’t follow the “rules” but in my mind it conveys the moment perfectly.
The gazebo was packed with people and was a bit challenging to shoot. Of course I got all the required shots, but those are boring to show… I know my readers want to see cute little girls and beautiful brides, so here’s a cute little girl! I added the “dreamy”, slightly fuzzy/glow look later on.
Letasha’s dress was classically simple, but was absolutely beautiful. It was the perfect length for her, and for the type of wedding she planned.
I got a couple hundred shots at the reception, too… where Gene who was working for D. Jay’s Entertainment kept everyone dancing for hours. However I’ve shown a lot of “party” shots lately so I thought I’d just include this one photo. It pretty much sums up the end to an exciting (and tiring) day!
Oh, what the hay… I’ll throw in one more. I processed this bouquet/ring shot to look “vintage”.
It was great to be back in Laughlin again. I’m down there in early November, so be on the lookout for more photos from Laughlin!
