I’ve done wedding photos at Little Church of the West several times. They are really nice over there, since they do let “outside” photographers into their Chapel (that’s not the norm in Las Vegas). There are some restrictions but we work within those and get some nice shots.
For this shoot, I decided to treat Jim and Nikki (an AWESOME couple that came all the way from England!) to a “theme”. Since the Little Church has been around since the 1940′s, and in “Las Vegas History” that’s almost the “Old West” times – I decided to process the photos with a very “Old West” theme. Yes of course they get the “regular” ones too, but I thought it would be cool to do this theme.
Here’s a few from the series, don’t forget to click for the larger size and to see the details like the film grain, etc.:
Obviously I didn’t do ALL of the photos in that style… Nikki is a beautiful red-head with amazing blue eyes so I had to do at least one shot that really showed off those features:
And here’s the two of them on the grounds of the Chapel:
Then we hopped in the limo for a Strip Tour. Jim had this cool hat and I had an idea… old Vegas “Sinatra Style”! I found some old pics of Sinatra and they had this highly-saturated, greenish-tint (sort of a Lomo look) so I emulated that for this photo.
And that was all good until Jeremy took it a step further in post-processing. The Zumanity sign really detracted from the photo, and he wanted more of the early 1940′s Sinatra look (since that’s when he first played Vegas). So he did a simple Antique look, and added a lot of film grain… but he also did something else… look closely!
Anyway, we thought it was fun!
Then it was off to the Venetian for a bunch of photos. I really liked this one.
And finally, whenever there’s something that is special to my bride and groom, I always try to get some photos (obviously!). Rings, of course.. but for this one there were cuff-links. These were given to Jim by his grandfather (posthumously) specifically to wear at his wedding.
I have to say, I really enjoy working with ALL brides, but for some reason the ones that come from Europe are especially fun. Jim and Nikki were no exception – I thoroughly enjoyed my time with them and their entourage. And I know the feeling is mutual because of the great email that they sent after seeing their proofs! Thanks guys, and congratulations!

Ohh, I’m giddy! Just a couple days ago we took delivery of a brand new Dye Sublimation printer. This isn’t your $129 Sony consumer-level printer. This thing is a monster! It is made out of STEEL and weighs over 65 pounds! But, it’s PORTABLE. This is the printer that we are using for our “Photo Corner” (similar to a Photo Booth but better – more about that in a future post). The printer will print borderless 8×10 photos in less than 1 minute (or can print sheets of 5×7, 3×5, 4×6, wallet, anything!), and the prints can be glossy or with a light matte finish, and they are BEAUTIFUL. The paper is nice and thick and the colors are very bright with great saturation and clarity.
Here’s a promo pic from Shinko, I figured there’s no reason to take my own photo of it (there’s actually a piece that hooks into that slot so that it catches the prints as they come out):
I did a print and put it side-by-side with a print that we had made at our professionals-only print supplier (they only print for pro photographers), and there isn’t much of a difference! I’ll still be using the professional-only printing company for my high-level photography packages, but they are WAY better than any other on-site printing I’ve ever seen – and they are MUCH better than a Wal-Mart or Walgreens print!
I’ll be using this printer at wedding receptions when my brides opt for on-site printing of candid photos of their guests (so the guests can take the prints with them), as well as at some corporate events, and some school events. And, if any of my brides want a couple photos “right away”, this will be a great option!
I am SOO excited! Give me a call if you are interested in on-site printing for ANY event, or to add a “Photo Corner” to your wedding reception!

This Las Vegas Wedding Photographer is off to Yosemite for a couple days. Can’t wait! The Ansel Adams Gallery is there and I think Jeremy and I are going to take a clinic on Landscape and Wildlife Photography. We aren’t landscape photographers so it will be an interesting change-of-pace. We’ll probably post a few photos when we get back!

Joey and Alicia are getting married at Silverstone Golf Club (we actually recommended them to check it out and they LOVE it) so we figured an Engagement Session there would be in order. Jeremy and I did this shoot, collaborating on the poses and Jeremy did most of the shooting while I was the “lighting technician” (read: lugging the big off-camera strobe around the golf course).
Usually the groom is “along for the ride” but Joey was really into this. I think part of it was his excitement of getting nice photos of his beautiful fiancee, but he was genuinely excited to be involved. That is GREAT and really shows his love and committment to Alicia.
Of course it could also just be “the way it is” with Joey, Alicia and their family… because when they came to proof their photos, they had an entourage of people including moms and aunts and grandmas! That was nerve-wracking but really fun to see the various reactions when we showed a photo.
So anyway, poor Joey and Alicia, it was very bright and we not only brought our big flash but also a reflector to help with fill light. They probably felt like they were part of a movie production or something…
Silverstone has this sschuuhweet arch at the front entrance. Very dramatic! They call it “Mediterranean Style”, so we did this Michelangelo-ish pose under the arch (shout out to P.G. for that term!). And FYI, the sky is un-touched other than saturation and contrast (the clouds really are in that cross-hatch pattern!)

With the cool clouds that day, we wanted to use them as a backdrop as much as possible. We just love the sky, the wall, and the fun “come hither big boy” type pose that Alicia had.
This was a practice shot (working on settings) and it just happened to be a great expression and perfect “glow” lighting…
This one was processed very “warm” to bring out the red highlights in Alicia’s hair to match Joe’s red hair…
Here’s one of Alicia’s “glamour shots”. The neat thing about Silverstone is there’s lots of interesting locations in a small area…this area has some slightly industrial-looking concrete stairs.
Here’s another “awwwww…..”
Time to goof off a little – we had plenty of the “posed” stuff…
Here’s a bit of an optical illusion – you’d think they were in some sort of meadow or field, wouldn’t you? Well they weren’t… and how we did that will remain our little secret
(but there’s no photoshop involved)
They couldn’t hide from our big telephoto lens!
Our style is usually “soft/glowy and clear/clean” but we pushed our boundaries a little bit… the shot really needed a “spy” look, some distortion, blur, and “noise” added
Last one of the blog, by now it was almost dark and there were lots more clouds. Oh, and now we figured out why Joey liked this photo shoot so much! He got to kiss his beautiful fiancee A LOT! (watch your hands, young man!)
We were so happy that Joey and Alicia and their “entourage” liked our work. We knew that different processing styles are liked/disliked by different people – and of course mom and grandma didn’t like some of the shots that Alicia and Joey liked (and vice-versa) – but that’s why we always do varied processing on our photos AND give the “original” version on the disc, too!

Katrina and Jesse hired me to take after-wedding photos on the Las Vegas Strip earlier this week. This type of shoot makes me happy to be a Las Vegas Photographer! This one was fun! We rode in style in a huge 14 Passenger SUV Limo from Las Vegas Limo. This group was GREAT to work with… and they had an awesome time.
Here they are in the limo (don’t forget to CLICK on the photo to get a larger version!)
The wedding party having a blast outside of Bellagio. Check out the ringbearer’s pose!
Awwww….
A classic Lomo process on this photo gives it an “Old Vegas” type feel.
Here’s Jesse looking all handsome!
And Katrina looking hot (and showing some leg!). I just had to make this one black-and-white for that classic model look.
The lovebirds in front of Bellagio.
And here’s the same photo using selective color. I love them both and had a real hard time deciding which one I like the most. It was difficult getting rid of the beautiful greens since it’s spring.
More “Classic Las Vegas” type processing on this photograph, what a great looking group!
Off to the Las Vegas sign for some photos, I was going for a high-contrast look in this photo… dark blacks and bright whites.
In reality, it was very cloudy that day (I purposely “hid” the cloudiness in most of the pictures above). But here’s one with lots of contrast in the sky.
What a ham!!
Thanks Katrina and Jesse, had a blast!
